Hulu saddles up Bravest Knight toon

The Bravest Knight’s voice cast includes RuPaul

US streamer Hulu has ordered a 13-part animated children’s series based on Daniel Errico’s book The Bravest Knight Who Ever Lived.

The Bravest Knight is from Big Bad Boo Studios and will debut its first five episodes on June 21, followed by additional episodes later this year.

The show follows a young pumpkin farmer as he attempts to become the bravest knight of all time and features a household with two dads, making it one of the first children’s series with an openly gay main character.

The show features a cast including actors TR Knight, Bobby Moynihan and Storm Reid, as well as drag queen RuPaul and comedian Wanda Sykes.

It joins fellow Hulu originals including Holly Hobbie, Find Me In Paris and Doozers.

Earlier this month, the Walt Disney Company took full operational control of the fast-growing US streamer, after striking an agreement to buy Comcast’s 33% stake in the business for at least US$5.8bn within the next five years.
