Hulu orders JFK drama

US VoD service Hulu has made a straight-to-series order for a show based on a Stephen King novel about the death of former US President John F Kennedy.

The 9×60′ show is based on King’s novel titled 11/22/63 and is being produced by JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros Television.

Warner Bros International Television Distribution will sell the show internationally.

It follows the life of a man who travels back in time to stop the assassination of JFK only to find that the man convicted of the former US president’s murder, and a new love interest, threaten his plans.

Bridget Carpenter (The Red Road) is attached as writer and will exec produce alongside Bryan Burk from Bad Robot.

It’s the latest project for Abrams and Bad Robot, with the prodco already working on Westworld for HBO and Person of Interest for CBS.

Hulu has previously ordered original programming that includes comedy show Deadbeat and recently revealed plans to quadruple its investment in original programming this year.
