Only Murders in the Building features frequent comedy collaborators Martin and Short and pop star/actor Gomez as three strangers obsessed with true crime TV who find themselves caught up in a real-life crime.

It has been created and written by Martin and John Hoffman, who exec produce alongside Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal.

The streamer’s new original series also include semi-animated comedy series Woke and eight-part drama series No Man’s Land.

The latter examines the Syrian civil war through the eyes of Antoine, a young Frenchman in search of his estranged, presumed-dead sister. While unravelling the mystery, Antoine ends up joining forces with a unit of Kurdish female fighters as he travels with them in ISIS-occupied territory.

The global streamer has also placed straight-to-series orders for limited drama series The Girl From Plainville and docuseries The Next Thing You Eat.

The Girl From Plainville will tell the true story of Conrad Roy, who committed suicide after his girlfriend, Michelle Carter, encouraged him to do so via text message. The show is being adapted from Jesse Barron’s Esquire article of the same name.

Carter will be played by Elle Fanning (The Neon Demon), who will exec produce alongside co-showrunners Liz Hannah and Patrick Macmanus as well as Echo Lake’s Brittany Kahan Ward. The Girl From Plainville is a production of UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group. Kelly Funke will oversee the project for Macmanus’s Littleton Road Productions.

The Next Thing You Eat comes from award-winning chef David Chang and Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Morgan Neville. The six-part docuseries will tell the story of the changes taking place across the culinary world.

Its exec producers include Chang, Christopher Chen, Dave O’Connor and Chris Ying on behalf of Majordomo Media; Neville and Caitrin Rogers on behalf of Tremolo Productions; and Chad Mumm on behalf of Vox Media Studios. The Next Thing You Eat is produced by Tremolo Productions and Majordomo Media for Vox Media Studios.

Finally, Hulu has also renewed original series Pen15; Love, Victor; and Taste the Nation for second seasons.
