Hulu develops Sweet Tooth with Team Downey

US streamer Hulu has ordered a pilot based on the DC Vertigo comic series Sweet Tooth from husband and wife duo Robert Downey Jr and Susan Downey.

The project tells the story of boy-deer hybrid Gus in a post-apocalyptic world looking for answers as to what caused a catastrophic incident that has wiped out most of humanity, according to reports from the US. It’s from Downey Jr’s Team Downey prodco, Jim Mickle and Warner Bros TV.

Mickle, co-creator of Hap and Leonard, writes and directs the project and exec produces alongside Downey Jr, Susan Downey, Amanda Burrell and Linda Moran.

Sweet Tooth becomes the latest work from the DC Vertigo imprint to be adapted for TV, following The CW’s iZombie, which will be moving into its fifth and final season, and Lucifer, which was picked up by Netflix for a fourth run after Fox cancelled it earlier this year.
