Huawei calls up Sunny Bunnies

Sunny Bunnies is on air in more than 160 territories

Smartphone maker Huawei and VoD platforms in China have acquired rights to Belarusian preschool animated series Sunny Bunnies from London-based distributor Media IM.

Huawei has taken the VoD rights to seasons one and two of Sunny Bunnies and will make episodes available on its handsets in Italy and Spain.

Meanwhile, Alibaba-owned Youku has licensed two seasons of the show, taking VoD rights for PCs, tablets, mobile phones, OTT and set-top boxes.

Elsewhere in China, Mango TV has taken S1 of Sunny Bunnies for its SVoD platform, having held the Chinese AVoD rights for S2-3 since January 2018.

Media IM co-founder Irina Nazarenko said the show generated over a billion views for Mango TV in less than a year.

The shortform series, which is now on air in more than 160 territories, is aimed at four- to seven-year-olds and follows five beaming balls of light that cause mischief wherever they go.

The show is produced by Digital Light Studio in Belarus and made its debut on the Sunny Bunnies YouTube channel in 2016. The studio has now started production on S4 of the series.
