History orders Abdul-Jabbar war doc

A+E Networks’ History channel has ordered a stand-alone documentary from NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar titled Black Patriots.

The one-hour documentary honours the African American heroes who fought during the American Revolutionary War. It seeks to paint a comprehensive picture of the African American experience during the war and share the story through the eyes of some of the community’s most important figures.

Black Patriots is produced by Six Weeks Media, with Abul-Jabbar executive producing alongside Deborah Morales, Steve Ascher, Kristy Sabat, Jessica Conway, Stephen Mintz, and Jennifer Wagman. The documentary is set to premiere on February 19.

Alongside Black Patriots, History will mark its 25th anniversary this year with a slate of premium programming including Washington, Auschwitz Untold and the six-part miniseries Grant.
