Henson preschool content goes global

Dinosaur Train’s third season is launching this summer

Spain’s TV3 and Irish net TG4 are among the international broadcasters to have picked up preschool content from The Jim Henson Company in the US.

The two networks have acquired the 22×11’ fifth season of Dinosaur Train, which will debut this summer in the US on PBS Kids. TV3 has also picked up the rights to the first four seasons.

The new season of Dinosaur Train continues its exploration of natural science with Buddy the T-Rex and his adoptive family of Pteranodons.

Australian pubcaster the ABC, France’s Piwi+, Spain’s TV3 and Ireland’s TG4 have also acquired season two of Dot. (26×11’), based on the popular children’s book by Randi Zuckerberg.

Season two launched in the US in October on Universal Kids, NBCUniversal’s Cable Entertainment network for 2-11s, and the CBC in Canada. Season one of the series has also recently been acquired by TV3 and India’s Viacom 18.

The show features Dot and her friends as they embark on tech-fuelled adventures to satisfy their imaginations, curiosities and latest passions, using any tool or technology that will enhance their play and exploration.

Additionally, Germany’s KiKa has acquired season two of Doozers, while India’s Viacom18 has acquired season one of the show. Doozers, a CG animated Hulu Original, features the popular characters from classic Henson series Fraggle Rock.
