HBO to air Obama’s Final Year

Barack Obama was US president for eight years

US cablenet HBO is preparing to air a documentary that explores the final 12 months of former president Barack Obama’s spell in the White House.

The Final Year (1×90′), directed by Greg Barker (Manhunt: The Inside Story of the Hunt for Bin Laden), has been slated to air on May 21 at 20.00.

It will follow Obama’s foreign-policy team as they work to solidify the administration’s policies amid immense challenges, focusing on the work of key figures such as secretary of state John Kerry and UN ambassador Samantha Power.

Shot between late 2015 until 03.00 on inauguration day in 2017, The Final Year will also be available on HBO On Demand, HBO NOW, HBO GO and partners’ streaming platforms.

The show, which had its world premiere at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival, is produced by Julie Goldman, John Battsek and Greg Barker. Co-executive producers include Kerstin Emhoff and Andrew Ruhemann, while the senior producer is Nancy Abraham. Sheila Nevins exec produces for HBO.
