HBO scores Lat Am, Euro copro

HBO in Latin America and HBO Europe have unveiled their first original coproduction, a 10-part docuseries about this summer’s football World Cup.

Destino Rusia

Destino Rusia 2018 (10×30’), which will air in spring, will offer viewers intimate and personal stories from top players preparing for the tournament, which kicks off in Russia on June 14.

HBO Latin America has previously produced Destino South Africa and Destino Brazil, which explored the sport and its players ahead of the 2010 and 2014 World Cups respectively.

Episodes of Destino Rusia 2018 will take place in 12 countries, with the producers claiming the show offers “fresh insight into the journeys of top athletes to the world sporting stage.”

Roberto Ríos, VP for original production at HBO Latin America, said the “unprecedented collaboration” with HBO Europe would be “a unique, compelling, intimate” exploration of the sport ahead of the World Cup.

The executive producers are Luis F Peraza, Roberto Ríos, Paul Drago and Gabriela Remirez for HBO Latin America and Miguel Salvat and Hanka Kastelicova for HBO Europe.
