WarnerMedia’s forthcoming SVoD service HBO Max has picked up a feature-length documentary exec produced by Monica Lewinsky and focusing on the issue of public shaming.

15 Minutes of Shame explores the culture of humiliation and features interviews with people affected by public shaming.

Produced by Six West, the doc is exec produced by Max Joseph (MTV’s Catfish) and Six West’s Steve Ascher and Kristy Sabat, as well as Lewinsky, who found herself the subject of intense media and public scrutiny when her affair with then US president Bill Clinton came to light in the late 1990s.

Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, said: “Monica Lewinsky is an anti-bullying activist with unparalleled authority, making her the perfect partner for this project, and Max’s strong advocacy for social justice and distinctive storytelling makes him particularly well-suited to explore this complex modern phenomenon.”

Lewinsky is also a producer on the next instalment of FX fact-based drama anthology American Crime Story, which focuses on her affair with Clinton and the impeachment proceedings against the president.

In related news, HBO Max has ordered an original comedy doscuseries titled The Ho’s (working title) from Lionsgate TV.

The 8×30’ series is inspired by the feature film Crazy Rich Asians and follows the life of the Vietnamese Ho family. After immigrating to the US with scant savings, they were able to realise the American dream and establish a multimillion-dollar bank and real-estate development company.

The show pulls back the curtain of their lavish Houston lifestyle and showcases the family connections that unite them as well as uncovering multi-generational tensions and family drama.

The Ho’s is a Wallin Chambers Entertainment production in association with Lionsgate Television. The series is executive produced by Katy Wallin and Stephanie Bloch Chambers. Amanda Ly and Rosalina Lydster serve as co-executive producers.

HBO Max will launch in spring 2020 with an expected 10,000 hours of curated premium content.
