HBO Max collars dog grooming show

WarnerMedia’s forthcoming streaming service HBO Max has greenlit a dog grooming competition series from US prodco Jax Media.

Hot Dog (working title) is a 12×30′ series in which three dog groomers go head-to-head in a creative competition showcasing all kinds of canine breeds.

Inspired by Groomed, a book by celebrity dog grooming expert Jess Rona, who will lead the judging panel, Hot Dog will feature comedic commentary from celebrity guests. The winner will receive a cash prize.

The series is exec produced by Rona and Jax Media’s Tony Hernandez, Brooke Posch and Seamus Murphy-Mitchell. Also producing is Nicolle Yaron, who exec produces NBC craft competition series Making It. Abi McCarthy is showrunner.

HBO Max is set to launch in the US this spring.
