HBO feels Insecure for fifth time

Insecure is currently in its fourth season

US premium cablenet HBO has renewed Issa Rae-fronted comedy drama Insecure for a fifth season.

The series follows the awkward experiences and tribulations of a modern-day African-American woman, played by co-creator Rae, and her friends.

The series, which also stars Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Natasha Rothwell, Amanda Seales and Alexander Hodge, was created by Rae and Larry Willmore. Rae also exec produces alongside Prentice Penny, Melina Matsoukas, Michael Rotenberg, Dave Becky, Jonathan Berry, Amy Aniobi and Jim Kleverweis.

Amy Gravitt, exec VP of HBO programming, said: “We’re thrilled that Issa, Prentice and the whole Insecure team will be getting back together for a fifth season. As we laugh and cringe with recognition, their stories make us all feel a little less alone in the world.”

The fourth season of Insecure premiered on HBO last month.
