HBO doc investigates Allen v Farrow

US cablenet HBO has greenlit a documentary series about the sexual abuse scandal surrounding iconic film director Woody Allen in the early 1990s.

From investigative filmmakers Kirby Dick, Amy Ziering and Amy Herdy, Allen v Farrow goes behind the sensational headlines to investigate claims that Allen sexually abused his and Mia Farrow’s then seven-year-old daughter, Dylan.

The four-part series, produced by HBO Documentary Films, also explores Allen and Farrow’s subsequent custody battle, the revelation of Allen’s relationship with Farrow’s adopted daughter Soon-Yi and the controversial aftermath in the years that followed.

Interweaving new investigative work with home movie footage, court documents, police evidence and never-before-heard audio tapes, the docuseries also features exclusive interviews with Mia and Dylan Farrow, among others.

Allen v Farrow will debut on HBO later this month and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.

Ziering and Dick are directing the series, with Herdy, Jamie Rogers and HBO’s senior VP of documentary programming Sara Rodriguez producing. Ziering and Dick also exec produce with HBO’s exec VPs of documentary and family programming, Lisa Heller and Nancy Abraham.
