HBO Asia, the Singapore-based arm of US cable network HBO, has begun shooting its latest original drama series, Invisible Stories.

The 6×30′ series follows six neighbours living in a fictional housing estate in multicultural Singapore. Each episode follows one neighbour as they navigate everyday life and its challenges.

The series features a cast from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and Singapore. The first episode, which will premiere later this year, follows a Taiwanese mother and her autistic son.

Invisible Stories is created by Ler Jiyuan and produced by Singapore-based Birdmandog as part of HBO Asia’s partnership with the Info-communications Media Development Authority.

The two-and-a-half year collaboration aims to develop Singapore’s drama production capabilities and talent, through which HBO Asia will conduct training workshops and work with local talent and companies on original productions.

“With Invisible Stories, we are pleased to be able to bring to life these seldom told, intimate stories of people who walk amongst us but are often invisible as we go about our busy lives every day,” said Jonathan Spink, CEO of HBO Asia.

“HBO Asia is glad to once again work with talented cast and crew from Singapore and the region to bring local stories to a global stage.”
