HBO alum joins Annapurna for TV

US movie firm Annapurna Pictures has launched a television division led by former HBO president of entertainment Sue Naegle.

Annapurna Television will focus on building the label’s TV slate for broadcast, cable and digital platforms.

Naegle, who left her role as president of HBO Entertainment back in 2013, will run the venture alongside Annapurna founder Megan Ellison.

The prodco is already working on a series for US premium cable channel Epix written by Angela Robinson and Alex Kondrake about the lives of Hollywood icons and rivals Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich.

Prior to this role Naegle led her own TV and film production outfit, Naegle Ink, where she remains an executive produce on Robert Kirkman’s Cinemax series Outcast.

She also has projects in development with US premium cablenet HBO and other cable networks. Naegle Ink’s senior VP Kit Giordano and VP Ali Krug will join Naegle at Annapurna.

During her HBO tenure, Naegle was behind Emmy-winning series Game of Thrones, Veep and Boardwalk Empire, among others.
