HBO agrees Succession plan

Succession comes from Peep Show co-creator Jesse Armstrong

US cablenet HBO has renewed Will Ferrell-backed political drama Succession for a second season.

The show, which follows a fictional global media family and stars Brian Cox, is written and executive produced by Peep Show co-creator Jesse Armstrong. Director Adam McKay, Ferrell, Frank Rich, Kevin Messick, Jane Tranter and Mark Mylod also exec produce, with Armstrong serving as showrunner.

The recently premiered drama was among the first projects ordered by HBO programming president Casey Bloys when he joined the company, and it was Bloys who announced the show’s second run.

Succession’s renewal comes a day after HBO confirmed its first pilot for a spin-off from hit fantasy series Game of Thrones.
