Hat Trick gets first look at Summer

Channel 4’s The Drag Lab

The distribution arm of UK indie Hat Trick has signed a first-look deal with Summer Films and has added two of the local prodco’s new titles to its sales slate.

Hat Trick International has struck a multi-year first-look agreement with Summer, adding Channel 4 series The Drag Lab and Manhunting with my Mum to its catalogue ahead of Mipcom.

Summer Films was established last year by creative director Lucy Hillman (Great Ormond Street, The Choir – Military Wives) and MD Sam Whittaker (Brat Camp, World’s Strictest Parents).

The company also already produced Excluded at Seven, part of Channel 4’s Cutting Edge strand, and Death on Campus, which has been viewed more than two million times on BBC3’s YouTube channel.

Set for delivery early next year, The Drag Lab sees drag queens Cheddar Gorgeous and Anna Phylactic and their authentic drag family embarking on a national road trip.

In Manhunting with my Mum, presenter, club DJ and radio host AJ Odudu, who has just turned 30 and remains single, goes back to her roots in Nigeria to get a taste of life and love the traditional way. AJ’s mum, Florence, is unimpressed with modern dating methods and has lined up four men she believes could be ideal husband material.
