Hasbro reveals Micronauts series

US toyco Hasbro is developing an animated series based on its Micronauts alien action figures, which date back to the 1970s.

Micronauts (26×22’) will see the small heroes reimagined in cartoon form and will target 6-11s.

Marvel Comics had taken comic book rights to the toy, which was originally made by manufacturer Mego, but Hasbro now owns the characters and is preparing the show for 2019. No broadcaster is yet attached.

The story will see the group forge an alliance with a teenager called Cameron Ruck who will join them in their ongoing pursuit of justice against villain Baron Karza.

Hasbro has already announced plans for a live action Micronauts movie from Paramount Pictures, slated for 2020.
