School of Hard Sums is a remake of Japanese format Comaneci University of Maths and was sold through Fuji Creative Corp, the sales arm of Fuji TV, which created the original with comic and director Takeshi ‘Beat’ Kitano.

Australian pubcaster SBS has acquired three seasons of the UK version, which is fronted by comedian Dara O’Briain and was originally made for UKTV’s network Dave by Wild Rover Productions and FCI, for its channel SBS2.

The series explores how maths underpins everything in the world around us and sees O’Briain and other comedians revealing how the subject can be applied to everyday life.
