Hammer, Mainstreet team for Elephants

Woman in Black producer Hammer and Mainstreet Pictures have partnered to develop a period drama titled Forty Elephants.

The companies are working with BBC3’s Thirteen writer Marnie Dickens on the series, which is based on a ruthless all-female criminal gang that spread havoc across London in the early 20th Century.

The project is in development with an unnamed UK broadcaster.

Forty Elephants is billed as a modern and visceral period drama centred around the formidable leader of the infamous girl gang and the ambitious young woman who sets out to undo her.

Joint MDs Sally Haynes and Laura Mackie are overseeing the project for Mainstreet. Hammer CEO Simon Oakes and head of development Aliza James are working on the series for Hammer.
