Greco returns to Viacom for content

Viacom has appointed one of its former executives to a role overseeing content strategy at its US networks MTV, VH1 and Logo.

Mike Greco

Mike Greco has been named exec VP of content strategy and business planning, working with Chris McCarthy, president of the cable networks, to oversee scheduling, acquisitions, financing and audience insights.

Greco was most recently exec VP of programming and research at Discovery and has also had spells with US cablenets including A&E and Lifetime. In 2000 he joined MTV as VP of research, going on to spend seven years with the network.

McCarthy said Greco’s “holistic approach to programming makes him the ideal fit to keep our core linear business strong and fuel our industry-leading momentum on cable.”

He added that the exec’s appointment would ensure Viacom is “constantly thinking about our audience in new and innovative ways.”
