GRB makes Covert hire

US producer and distributor GRB Entertainment has appointed an executive from film finance outfit Covert Media to work across its development slate.

Saul Goldberg becomes senior VP of development and will oversee all development across GRB’s programming while managing the company’s development team.

He reports to GRB Entertainment chief operating officer Marielle Zuccarelli, who said Goldberg’s “instincts for compelling, noisy content across the spectrum and his entrepreneurial spirit” would help the company expand its slate.

Prior to GRB, Goldberg was head of unscripted television at Covert (fka QED International), where he launched the company’s television division in 2015 and worked across distribution.

He has also worked as director of development at Electus and developed and sold truTV prank show Fameless with actor and comedian David Spade, in conjunction with Entertainment One.

GRB’s development slate includes Intervention for A&E, Untold Stories of the ER for TLC and teen comedy Bad Night for Netflix.

It’s the latest exec appointment at GRB, which brought Zuccarelli back to the firm after stints with A+E Networks and Sonar Entertainment in October, rejigged its Lat Am sales team in November and brought in Danielle Adams from Irwin Entertainment to work on the development side of the business.
