ProSiebenSat.1-owned Studio71 is producing a live-action series inspired by the Battlefield video game franchise that will launch on Verizon’s Go90 platform.

Rush: Inspired by Battlefield will begin streaming on the mobile service on September 20.

Sci-fi/action filmmakers Sam Gorski and Niko Pueringer have directed the special effects-laden, military-focused series through their prodco Corridor Digital.

The Battlefield franchise, developed by EA Dice and published by Electronic Arts, has amassed more than 60 million players worldwide since rolling out in 2002. US network Fox previously tried to develop the game for the small screen but shelved the project.

“Gaming is one of the most popular forms of entertainment today and there is a huge appetite for any and all content inspired by video games,” said Dan Weinstein, president of Studio71.

US producers Paramount TV and Anonymous Content, which optioned the rights to adapt the same video game franchise into a TV series earlier this year, were not listed as being on board the project.
