Globo takes women’s western to Natpe

Land of the Strong proved a hit on Globo

Brazilian broadcaster, producer and distributor Globo is launching a female-orientated western drama at Natpe Miami this month.

Described as a story of love, hate and forgiveness stemming from a family secret, Land of the Strong follows a woman’s journey with her mother to north-eastern Brazil in search of her missing brother.

The series is written by George Moura and Sergio Goldenberg, creators of Doomed and The Party, in collaboration with Flavio Araujo, Mariana Mesquita and Claudia Jouvin.

The ‘super series’ – a term used to describe the new breed of Latin American dramas which generally have orders of around 60 to 80 episodes – averaged around 26 million viewers per day in Globo’s late-prime slot. Almost two-thirds was shot on location in Brazil’s Paraíba outback.

Globo will present the drama at Natpe Miami along with its other new titles at a breakfast event on January 22 at 08.00.
