The latest broadcasters to take the drama include Ecuador’s Ecuavisa and Peru’s ATV, following earlier sales to EPG in South Korea, Uruguay’s Teledoce and SIC in Portugal. A further four as-yet undisclosed companies have also picked up the miniseries, says Globo.

The 20×60’ crime series, based on an eponymous telenovela from 1974, has been revamped with a 24-hour storyline around a police investigation after a body is found in the pool at a society party and everyone is a suspect.

Rede Globo aired The Party in a 23.00 slot last year between July and September, pulling in 24 million viewers, according to audience measurement agency Ibope. It also trended on social media with up to one million hits in the final month.

The drama launched two weeks later on SIC in Portugal, becoming one of the country’s top 20 shows during the period (source: GFK).

The cast includes major Globo stars, among them Patricia Pillar (The Favorite), Tony Ramos (Passione), José de Abreu (‘Brazil Avenue’) and Cássia Kis (Doomed). It was directed by José Luiz Villamarim and written by George Moura and Sérgio Goldemberg.
