Gigantosaurus roars into Italy, Canada

Gigantosaurus attracted considerable interest at MipJunior

Rai in Italy and Canada’s ICI Radio-Canada Télé (aka SRC) have both acquired CGI animated series Gigantosaurus as part of a number of deals closed by distributor Cyber Group Studios Distribution.

Produced by Paris-based Cyber Group Studios, Gigantosaurus cost US$7.7m to make and was the most screened programme at last month’s MipJunior.

The preschool animation, which follows the adventures of four young dinosaurs growing up in the Cretaceous period, has already been pre-sold to Disney Junior worldwide, Super RTL in Germany, France Télévisions and Netflix.

Elsewhere, Cyber Group Studios have made deals across Europe, Asia and North America. RTVE in Spain, Rai, Germany’s WDR/ARD, RTP in Portugal and Vianet in Ukraine have all picked up the company’s CGI animation The Pirates Next Door (52×11’), based on the book by Jonny Duddle. RTP has also acquired TF1, Enanimation, Belgium’s RTBF and season one of Cyber Group Studios’ Mini Ninjas (104×11’).

RTVE and Vianet have also acquired Cyber Group’s 2D animated show Mirette Investigates (52×11’), along with RTBF and Canadian SVoD platform TFO.

Vianet has also taken Cyber Group’s CGI toons Zorro The Chronicles (26×22’) and Zou (156×11’), with the latter also being picked up by Česká Televize in the Czech Republic and SVoD service TVA in Canada. Česká Televize also acquired The Long long Holiday (5×50’/10×26’), produced by Les Armateurs and Blue Spirit Studio, while TVA has taken Mini Ninjas S1.

Télé-Québec and TG4 in Ireland have acquired Label Anim and Cyber Group’s Zak Jinks, and Channel 1 in Russia picked up Leo The Wildlife Ranger and Cloud Bread S2. In Asia, South Korean outfit CJ ENM’s channel English Gem has acquired Ozie Boo! Save the Planet (78×5′) and Adam’s Bakery (52×13’), and Myanmar’s Forever Group picked up Balloopo (52×11’), Mia (39×11’) and Raju The Rickshaw (78×7’). Finally, Cyber Group secured package deals with US OTT platforms Future Today and PlayKids.
