Germany’s Last Cop heads for US

MIPCOM: The creator of NBC series Shades of Blue has teamed with Red Arrow Studios International and Universal Television to take a German police drama to the US.

Adi Hasak

Adi Hasak is developing a local version of Der Letzte Bulle (The Last Cop) through his Adi TV Studios banner.

Hasak will write the pilot script and serve as executive producer and showrunner. Dean Parisot, who directed last year’s NBC breakout hit Good Girls, will direct the pilot.

The Last Cop tells the story of Mick Briggs, an alpha-male detective who wakes up from a 25-year coma and struggles to find his identity as a man, husband and father in a world he neither recognises nor understands.

The award-winning series was originally written and developed by Robert Dannenberg and Stefan Scheich. It was created and produced by ITV Studios Germany for SAT.1, which has aired 60 one-hour episodes.

Red Arrow Studios International distributes the format worldwide, with other adaptations including Falco in Mexico for Amazon Latin America.

The Last Cop marks the third format Hasak has set up in the US in as many years. Most recently he teamed up with Dynamic TV for a US version of fellow German series Tempel. Prior to that, he adapted Norwegian format Eyewitness, which originally aired on NRK.
