German toons head down under

MIPCOM JR: Germany’s ZDF Enterprises (ZDFE) has licensed a package of children’s animation down under, with titles including Fun With Claude, Shaolin Wuzang and Igam Ogam.

ABC Television is the buyer, and the mentioned series – totalling 104 episodes – are destined for ABC1. Furthermore, Laura’s Star (35×10′) will be aired on ABC2. ABC has also acquired all-media rights for Igam Ogam and Fun With Claude, consisting of a website that will be tailored to the local kids audience.

Fred Burcksen, VP of sales, merchandising and coproductions at ZDFE, said the deal “takes the productive partnership between ABC TV and ZDF Enterprises to the next level.” The first coproduction between ABC and ZDFE, teen drama Dance Academy, is currently being shot in Australia.
