FYI gets Married again

A+E Networks’ fledgling US cablenet FYI has renewed one of its first original commissions for a second season, before the first has concluded.

The lifestyle channel has given the greenlight to a second run of Married at First Sight which pulled 661,000 viewers to its fifth episode earlier this week.

The extreme social experiment follows three couples who are matched according to their interests and agree to get legally married on their first-ever meeting. They then live together as husband and wife for several weeks before deciding whether to stay married or get divorced.

The show, produced by Kinetic Content, premiered in the US on July 8 and 11 one-hour episodes will now air early in 2015.

Chris Coelen and Sam Dean are executive producers for Kinetic with Gena McCarthy and Liz Fine filling the role for FYI.

FYI launched in the US earlier this summer, replacing A+E Networks’ Bio channel and is run by Jana Bennett, former president of BBC Worldwide Networks.
