Fuse’s Juris goes to Court

In the US, music video channel Fuse is losing its president Marc Juris to Court TV, where he will be looking to grow the network’s younger viewership.

Juris is taking up his position as general manager of Court TV on October 4. Reporting to Court TV’s president and ceo Art Bell, he will be overseeing programming, production, creative services, marketing and corporate communications.

The appointment stems from Court TV’s strategy to pull in a younger audience. To do this Juris will be concentrating on building up the station’s reality slate. At present, Court TV’s new season line-up contains reality shows Russell Simmons Presents: Hip Hop Justice and High Stakes With Ben Mezrich.

Juris is well placed to lower Court TV’s target demo. He has worked at American Movies Classics (AMC) cable channel and Fuse, which he joined as president in 2002 when the net was known as MuchMusic USA.

“Marc brings a great sense of understanding how a brand works,” said Court TV chief Henry Schleiff. “He had enormous success on one level with AMC, which is considered to be one of the classiest upscale brands, and with his most recent success at Fuse, which is younger, hipper and edgier. If you combine those two, that’s what Court TV is becoming.”
