Fuse lit for Zig Zag’s Trivial Takedown

Trivial Takedown will be based on Channel 4’s Blink

US Hispanic broadcaster Fuse Media has given the go-ahead to a local version of UK factual entertainment gameshow Blink, under the title Trivial Takedown.

The 20×30’ series is being produced by UK-based Zig Zag Productions and will debut this fall.

The format, which aired on Channel 4 in the UK, pits two celebrity contestants against each other to identify music and pop culture icons, with some curveballs thrown in for good measure.

Influencers and YouTube stars including Kid Ink, Omarion and Frankie Grande are set to feature in the US show.

Besides the linear programme, Fuse-branded Trivial Takedown digital originals, talent interviews and other content pulled from the series will be distributed by Complex Networks, following the striking of a content deal between the two companies this month.

Additionally, Fuse will create a mobile-based interactive version of the gameshow, providing fans with the chance to test their own skills with live polls, trivia and in-play leaderboards.

London-based Zig Zag recently scored another gameshow-based commission from ITV, bringing comedy clips from Japanese gameshows to UK screens with Japandomonium (6×30’).

“We are really excited to bring our UK format Blink to a US audience,” said Andy Scott, Zig Zag’s head of entertainment. “It’s the most fun you can (legally) have in front of the TV set, with compelling play-along-at-home addictiveness and quick-fire pop culture questions.”

Fuse targets the Latino and multicultural 18-34 audience and operates services including linear and VoD channels alongside a network of podcasts and mobile apps.
