Strompolos is an entrepreneur and digital media pioneer who founded US-based Fullscreen in 2011 after leaving Google, where he was strategic partners development executive for YouTube.

For his work helping steer YouTube’s efforts to build audience and revenue streams around its most popular creators, Strompolos was named to Google’s patent for the monetisation of user-generated video.

He launched Fullscreen to focus on helping talent emerging from his former employer’s site to achieve its full potential and has built up a business that supports 75,000 creators, which together count more than 600 million subscribers and in excess of five billion video views per month.

Fullscreen has been at the fore in the evolution of YouTube talent and channel management and, having been bought out by AT&T and The Chernin Group joint venture Otter Media for up to US$300m in 2014, has gone on to make a series of its own acquisitions.

With the addition of Austin, Texas-based digital studio Rooster Teeth, the company supercharged its premium and scripted content production capabilities, honing these with the launch of its Fullscreen Films unit.

The 2015 acquisition of social media agency McBeard added expertise in producing content for Facebook, Twitter, Vine, Instagram, Pinterest and Snapchat for clients including Netflix, 20th Century Fox and NBCUniversal.

Earlier this year, the company launched its own subscription VoD service featuring original scripted series including Electra Woman & Dyna Girl, Filthy Preppy Teen$ and My Selfie Life, plus acquired titles like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Napoleon Dynamite and Dawson’s Creek.

Fullscreen also recently partnered with American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis on a new show for teenagers and young adults and has brought in ex-Hulu and Vevo execs to ramp up its content development.

Strompolos has been recognised among industry leaders by being included in AdAge’s 2013 40 Under 40, The Hollywood Reporter’s 2014 Silicon Beach Power 25 and 2016’s Digital Power 50.

His commitment to empowering content creators extends beyond the commercial sphere – through his involvement in the LA Promise Fund, he helps ensure arts education continues to be supported in LA public schools.
