A French broadcast group has taken rights to forthcoming animated series Kiva Can Do!, from Irish producer Kavaleer Productions.

Lagardère TV has picked up the French-speaking EMEA TV rights to the 52×11′ series, which follows the adventures of a seven-year-old inventor and is designed to get girls more interested in engineering.

The series has already been acquired by RTÉ in Ireland, while UK-based distributor Happy Audience secured the broadcast deal with Lagardère.

Industry veteran Brian Lacey of Lacey Entertainment has come on board as worldwide distributor of the series and will be shopping it at Mipcom in Cannes next month.

“Kiva Can Do! is a charming series with positive pro-social stories that are characterised by warmth and cheerful fun and reflect the highly imaginative play patterns of children around the world,” said Lacey.

The series marks the third self-developed IP series to be produced by Dublin-based Kavaleer, which is also behind animated shows Garth and Bev and Wildernuts.

Happy Audience retains long-term audiovisual and merchandise licensing rights to the Kiva Can Do!.
