French channels stock up at TVF

Classic Car Rescue has been picked up by RMC Découverte

Broadcasters in France including France Télévisions and Arte have picked up more than 100 hours of factual content from UK-based distributor TVF International.

Franco-German cultural net Arte has taken Empires of Silver (3×60’), produced by Scottish company Matchlight. The docuseries showcases the importance of silver throughout history.

Arte has also added Bafta-winning documentary Basquiat: Rage to Riches (1×52’), on famous American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Meanwhile, pubcaster France TV has taken the 10th season of The World From Above (14×26’) and picked up new spin-offs Thailand From Above (1×60’) and Laos From Above (1×60’).

Fox-owned broadcaster Voyage has also added aerial content, taking Aerial Asia (4×60’) which covers India, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, and Korea From Above (2×52’).

Elsewhere, cable operator Planète+ has acquired docuseries including Smart Cities (8×23’), PBS’s Extreme Realities (1×54’) and Wild City (4×60’), which is narrated by Sir David Attenborough and produced by Singapore-based Beach House Pictures.

RMC Découverte has taken Classic Car Rescue (14×60’), which is made by UK-based Blink Films.

TF1 Histoire has licensed numerous history and arts titles, including Channel 4’s Jesus’ Female Disciples (1×47’), BBC’s The Man Who Shot Tutankhamun (1×60’) and three of Channel NewsAsia’s documentaries: The Asian Century (8×48’), China On Film (2×48’) and Hokusai: Old Man Crazy to Paint (1×59’).

Finally, nature network Ushuaia TV has added wildlife and science titles including Rise of the Great White Shark (1×50’), Frontier Borneo (10×23’), Voyage of Curiosity (1×52’) and The Snake Master (2×45’), which was originally produced by Thai company TV Burabha and has been re-imagined for the international market by TVF.
