FremantleMedia Int’l hires Miramax alum

MIPCOM: Global distributor FremantleMedia International (FMI) has appointed a former Miramax and Paramount Pictures sales manager to oversee distribution in Scandinavia, Benelux and Ireland.

Karen Finnegan, who takes up the position of VP distribution, will have responsibility for growing FMI’s business in those regions through content sales and presales to linear and non-linear platforms.

She will also be tasked with developing new content and revenue opportunities. She takes over the role from Justin Hatfield, who has retired after 13 years at the company.

Her move comes shortly after FMI boosted its sales team in Canada with the appointment of Felicia Litovitz.

Finnegan moves to FMI after running the commercial strategy for US film and TV production outfit Miramax’s new productions and library distribution in CEE, the Nordics, Baltics and Russia.

Before Miramax, Finnegan was senior manager of television licensing at Paramount, where she looked after TV and SVoD rights for numerous European territories.

She will report to Jamie Lynn, executive VP, head of sales and distribution for EMEA.
