FremantleMedia falls for beauty format

FremantleMedia is taking reality, dating and culinary competition formats to MipTV next month, including a German reality series that aims to find the country’s most beautiful woman.

RTL1’s The Most Beautiful Woman

The Most Beautiful Woman, which launched on RTL1 this year, invites women of different ages and backgrounds to take part in a national beauty competition.

Over the series, the 20 contestants to take part in challenges designed to bring out their confidence, self-esteem and “inner beauty.” Meanwhile, Chef On The Block, produced by FremantleMedia in Finland and Denmark, follows three pairs of chefs as they visit each other’s restaurants and score the establishments’ food, décor and overall service.

The restaurants with the highest score over the series meet in the grand finale as the top three battle it out. Other titles heading to Cannes include reality dating quizshow 10 Questions You Wouldn’t Ask On a First Date and The Trade Off, a new format that explores the contrasts that occur when two professionals from different working environments swap jobs and salaries for two weeks.

The series launched on BBC2 in the UK earlier this year. Dogs: Their Secret Lives, from Arrow Media for Channel 4 in the UK, sees a veterinary expert take on the role of pet detective to tackle welfare issues that affect dogs and their owners.

Also on the slate is family gameshow format Cash or Splash, an amalgamation of the hit Fuji TV formats Clock Hanger, Boxing Glove and Run Quiz Run, and Extreme Love, a dating format from Israel’s Studio Glam.
