Fratto makes History move

US cablenet History has hired an exec from Canadian producer and distributor Reel One Entertainment as VP of scripted programming.

Adam Fratto is moving to the A+E Networks-owned channel to oversee development and production of its scripted slate and develop projects for A+E Studios.

Based in LA, Fratto will report to History executive VP and general manager Eli Lehrer and A+E Studios senior VP of programming Tana Jamieson.

Fratto was most recently senior VP at Reel One Entertainment, where he launched a series division for the distribution and production studio.

The exec built and developed a slate of projects during his time at Reel One, including a multi-platform adaptation of Philip K Dick’s Screamers.

Prior to joining Reel One, Fratto was head of drama development for New Zealand-based Pukeko Pictures, where he created and ran the department for Oscar-winning Weta (Lord of the Rings, District 9).

Some of Fratto’s most notable cable TV production credits include Cleverman, which he executive produced for Netflix and SundanceTV, and Syfy’s Haven.
