Frankie Boyle returns to Scotland with BBC

BBC2 has ordered a four-part series that will follow comedian Frankie Boyle as he performs stand-up in his native Scotland.

Frankie Boyle’s Tour of Scotland (working title, 4×30’) will feature Boyle not only performing at “colourful smaller venues” but also documenting his experiences with people around the country.

The series will culminate with a homecoming show in Glasgow, more than 10 years since Boyle last performed in Scotland.

Recently launched Scottish production company Two Rivers – formed by ex-STV MD Alan Clements after he left the Scottish broadcaster last year – will produce the series alongside Cheeky Grin.

Canada’s Kew Media Group, British broadcaster Channel 4 and investment bank Noble Grossart invested in Two Rivers earlier this year.

One of the company’s first commissions was BBC Scotland’s Children of the Devolution, a docuseries marking the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Scottish parliament.
