France TV introduced to Claude

Claude is based on the books by Alex T Smith

Public broadcaster France Télévisions has become the latest international network to add Disney Junior animation series Claude to its schedule.

The show is produced by Belfast-based animation studio Sixteen South, which is also behind WildWoods and Lily’s Driftwood Bay.

France TV has picked up a package of 50×12’ episodes and 11×2’ shorts from distributor Cloudco Entertainment, the LA-based firm formerly named American Greetings Entertainment and known for shows such as Care Bears and Holly Hobbie.

Based on the books of the same name by Alex T Smith, Claude follows the adventures of a beret-wearing dog and his faithful sidekick in a cosmopolitan seaside resort, home to an eccentric mix of larger-than-life-characters and colourful visitors.

It made its debut on Disney Junior in all countries across EMEA and Australia earlier last year. The toon has also been sold to YLE in Finland, YoYo in Taiwan, CJ E&M Media Corp for GEM in South Korea, TVB in Hong Kong and Cineplex Company for True Visions in Thailand.

Last year, Cloudco licensed the show to UK commercial terrestrial broadcaster ITV for its ITVBe channel.
