France TV gets into BBC Studios’ 1% Club

The 1% Club will air on ITV in the UK

Pubcaster France Télévisions has agreed a deal to adapt forthcoming UK gameshow The 1% Club for its France 2 channel.

The format has been licensed from BBC Studios (BBCS) and will be produced by the commercial and production arm of the UK pubcaster’s French arm, BBCS France.

In the UK, The 1% Club has been commissioned by ITV and is being produced by Magnum Media for a premiere later this year.

Making use of a scientific survey, the format tests how the brain works through a series of questions that often lead to entertaining answers.

Jacob DeBoer, exec VP for international production and formats at BBCS, said: “A great gameshow is one that viewers can play along with at home, and the beauty of this format is that an eight-year-old has as much chance as an 80-year-old, so it is fun for the whole family.

“France Télévisions have seen the potential of the format at an early stage and I’m confident this will pave the way for further agreements internationally in the coming months.”

The show is one of the new releases on the BBCS format slate for its annual showcase event, taking place online from February 22 to 24, along with weight-loss show Lose Weight Like Me, gameshow Small Fortune and celebrity comedy entertainment show Fact or Fake.
