Fox revisits Gotham, welcomes Resident

US broadcast network Fox is renewing comedy The Last Man on Earth and drama Gotham for fourth seasons and taken a new medical show to full series.

Warner Bros Television’s Gotham features characters from the DC Comics universe

Half-hour comedy The Last Man On Earth is produced by 20th Century Fox Television, while Batman prequel Gotham is from Warner Bros Television and sets its stories around characters from DC Comics.

They join Empire, Lethal Weapon and Lucifer among Fox’s renewals ahead of the network’s Upfront presentation this month.

Meanwhile, The Resident, from 3 Arts Entertainment and Antoine Fuqua’s Fuqua Films, in association with Twentieth Century Fox, has been greenlit to series.

Fuqua, the American director behind feature films including Training Day, is executive producing the one-hour drama, which features a senior hospital resident guiding an idealistic young doctor as he discovers the good and bad sides of modern medicine.

The network pulled the plug on supernatural drama Sleepy Hollow and police procedural Rosewood earlier this week.
