Fox Networks Group names president

Fox Networks Group (FNG) in the US has promoted the president and chief operating officer of its digital consumer group to the same position for the overall company.

Brian Sullivan

Brian Sullivan takes up the role vacated by Randy Freer after he took over as CEO of streamer Hulu in October. Freer was upped to replace Mike Hopkins, who left to join Sony Pictures Television.

Sullivan will directly oversee revenue and distribution for a number of FNG businesses: Fox Television Group (FTG), FX, FOX Sports and National Geographic Partners.

Additionally, he will continue leading the digital consumer group, which administers the company’s authenticated streaming apps, and will retain his place on the Hulu board alongside Peter Rice, president of 21st Century Fox and chairman and CEO of FNG, and Dana Walden, CEO of FTG.

Sullivan’s appointment marks a reshuffle within FNG, with Michael Biard, president of distribution, and Joe Marchese, president of ad revenue, now reporting to him.

FNG Europe & Africa president Jan Koeppen and Latin American counterpart Carlos Martinez will report jointly to Sullivan and Rice.

Taking up his previous role in 2015, Sullivan led Fox Networks’ digital strategy for all its brands. He steered the introduction of the digital consumer group’s streaming capabilities, allowing live and on-demand viewing of FNG content across its apps.

Sullivan started his career at Showtime Networks before moving to Sky in the UK, where he held a number of roles before becoming MD of the customer group. In this role, he played a central part in the creation of Sky Digital, Sky+, Sky HD and Sky Broadband. Sullivan then took over as CEO of Sky Deutschland, where he launched Sky Go, the live sport/entertainment streaming service.
