Fox names Madden entertainment chief

In the US, Fox Television Group (FTG) has named industry veteran David Madden as entertainment president, filling the role vacated by Kevin Reilly earlier this year.

The news marks the first exec changes made by newly appointed chairman-CEOs Gary Newman and Dana Walden, who came in following Reilly’s departure as chairman of entertainment at Fox in June.

Madden, formerly president of the Fox TV Studios (FTVS) production unit, will oversee scripted and alternative programming development and casting for the Fox network. Fox said a successor for his role at FTVS will be named shortly.

Madden will report to Newman and Walden, the joint leaders of the TV group that comprises the 20th Century Fox Television studio and Fox Broadcasting Company.

Meanwhile, FTG has promoted Joe Earley to chief operating officer after his stint as chief operating officer at FBC. He also reports to Walden and Newman. Earley had been one of those tipped to replace Reilly, along with Walden and FX Networks CEO John Landgraf, before it became clear that a restructure would take place.
