Fox Kids Europe becomes Jetix

With exec changes taking place in the group this week, Fox Kids Europe (FKE) has finally rebranded as Jetix.

Shareholders at an extraordinary general meeting in the Netherlands yesterday gave their approval to the new Jetix label.

This is the latest stage in ongoing programme to take FKE channels’ original content and consumer products over to the new name.

Fox Kids channels in Europe and the Middle East have already introduced Jetix branded blocks into their schedules and will make the full transition to their new Jetix moniker from late 2004 onwards.

In the US Jetix blocks appeared in February this year as part of the ABC Family morning window and primetime progrmaming on Toon Disney. Meanwhile, Fox Kids channels in Latin America are slated to change their name next month.

“Jetix will enable us to continue to successfully leverage our programming library through our channels, programme distribution and consumer products,” said Paul Taylor, interim FKE ceo, who took over the reigns earlier this week when Bruce Steinberg quit.

So far there has been no word on Steinberg’s reason for leaving, nor about a permanent replacement.
