Fox cuts Minority Report order

US network Fox has cut its order for Steven Spielberg-produced drama Minority Report from 13 to 10 episodes.

Minority Report was based on the 2002 Tom Cruise movie

The sci-fi drama, based on the 2002 Tom Cruise movie of the same name, premiered on September 21 but has struggled with ratings.

The show is facing competition from CBS’s Scorpion, NBC’s The Voice and ABC’s Dancing With the Stars on Monday evenings.

Last week Fox co-CEO and chairman Gary Newman said delayed viewing was making the decisions to cancel series more complicated and he expected network executives to be more patient with apparently under-performing series in future.

The news comes in the same week that CBS announced it was dropping another Amblin Television-produced show, Extant. However, the network ordered a new series from Amblin, American Gothic, for summer 2016.
