Fox books return to Paradise Hotel

The original Paradise Hotel aired on Fox in 2003

US broadcast network Fox is bringing back unscripted series Paradise Hotel with a social media twist.

The format follows a group of singletons staying in an exclusive tropical resort who vote off one of their number each week to make room for a new guest.

The updated version, however, will allow viewers to play along at home, using social media to try to influence what happens on screen, including helping decide who stays and who goes.

It will be executive produced by SallyAnn Salsano of 495 Productions and by Becca Walker (Love Island) and Celia Taylor of Mentorn Media, the original creators of the format.

The series originally ran in 2003 on Fox before being revived for a second season on MyNetworkTV in 2008. It was also produced in more than 18 other countries.

Rob Wade, president, alternative entertainment and specials at Fox Broadcasting Company, said the original show was ahead of its time.

“The format allows for a delicious mix of love, drama and humour with a uniquely Fox twist. By using fresh interactive elements, it enables fans to orchestrate the show’s narrative, making it can’t-miss television for a new generation of viewers,” said Wade.

Paradise Hotel is currently casting and contestants must be at least 21 years old and single.
