Four Weddings, Fargo top MGM Mip slate

The third season of Fargo, which airs on FX in the US

US distributor MGM Worldwide Television has revealed its slate for next month’s Mipcom market, featuring high-end dramas as well as formats and feature films.

Drama series on MGM’s roster include the TV adaptation of hit romcom film Four Weddings & a Funeral. Created and executive produced by Mindy Kaling (The Office US), the 10×60′ series sees a group of friends reunite for a wedding, but things soon turn sour.

The forthcoming fourth instalment of hit drama anthology Fargo (10×60’), starring Chris Rock and Jason Schwartzman, is also on the slate. The new season is set in 1950s Kansas City, where two criminal syndicates strike an uneasy peace.

Modern noir drama Perpetual Grace Ltd (10×60’), meanwhile, follows a young grifter who attempts to prey upon a pastor and his unsuspecting wife, who turn out to be more dangerous than he anticipated. It stars Sir Ben Kingsley, Jimmi Simpson and Jackie Weaver.

Outside drama, MGM will be shopping reality series Personal Injury Court (120×30’) in Cannes. The courtroom show uses videos, reenactments and testimonies to determine who is responsible for the injuries presented in each case, with Judge Gino Brogdon presiding.

Several MGM formats will also be up on offer, including the quizshow Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?. The popular format sees adults test their primary school knowledge as they compete against schoolchildren.

Comedy quiz Generation Gap, meanwhile, puts family members of different generations together to answer questions about each other’s generations.

Also available is TKO: Total Knockout, in which contestants attempt to complete an obstacle course as their competitors fire projectiles in an attempt to knock them down.

The company will also be selling a number of feature films at the event, including the latest instalment of the James Bond franchise, No Time To Die, plus Legally Blonde and The Addams Family.
