Floresta adds Top Chef flourish in Brazil

NATPE: Brazilian producer Floresta has picked up rights to adapt NBCUniversal International culinary competition format Top Chef for local network Record TV later this year.

Felipe Bronze: host of Top Chef Brazil

Floresta (Shark Tank Brazil), a joint venture between executive producer Elisabetta Zenatti and Sony Pictures Television (SPT), will make a 13-part version helmed by renowned Felipe Bronze.

The format sees a number of aspiring chefs compete head-to-head in weekly challenges testing their prowess, teamwork skills and stress endurance. Bronze will be head juror and is joined by French chef Emmanuel Bassoleil and food journalist Ailin Aleixo.

Top Chef was originally produced by Magical Elves and premiered in 2006 on Bravo in the US, where it is currently in its sixteenth season. The show has already travelled to Latin America in countries such as Chile, El Salvador and Mexico, with Floresta’s adaptation set to become the 24th international version.

“Floresta has a strong track record in producing high quality, award-winning formats, so we can’t wait to see how their version of the show will perform on Record,” said Ana Langenberg, senior VP, format sales and production, NBCUniversal International Formats.
