FIC takes Wayward Pines abroad

Fox International Channels (FIC) has taken on all rights outside the US to M Night Shyamalan’s new 10-episode event series Wayward Pines.

FIC will be the exclusive first-window broadcaster of the series in the 125 countries in which it has channels. In a first for the company, it will also handle sales of the series for all international TV windows and non-linear and home entertainment markets.

Simon Thomas, FIC’s London-based exec VP of content sales, will oversee international third-party deals.

The series, which stars Matt Dillon, is produced by FIC sister company FX Productions and is due to premiere on the Fox network in the US – as well as on FIC channels around the world – during the 2014/15 television season.

Based on the best-selling novel by Blake Crouch, Wayward Pines follows a Secret Service agent investigating the disappearance of two federal agents in the bucolic but mysterious town of Wayward Pines, Idaho.

The series was developed for television by Chad Hodge and is executive produced by Shyamalan, Hodge, Donald De Line and Ashwin Rajan. The cast also includes Melissa Leo, Toby Jones, Carla Gugino, Terrence Howard and Juliette Lewis.
