Federation deposits Bad Banks at MipTV

France’s Federation Entertainment has acquired a six-part German drama series about the cutthroat world of high finance to launch at MipTV in Cannes next month.

Bad Banks will be seen during the MipDrama screenings

Financial thriller Bad Banks will form part of the MipDrama screenings in April after Federation, which is behind Netflix’s first French original Marseille, secured distribution rights.

The series is produced by German prodco Letterbox Filmproduktion and Iris Productions and was shot in Berlin, Luxembourg, Frankfurt, London and Bahrain.

The show is one of 12 selected for the screenings, with buyers and executives able to view 15 minutes of footage from the series in Cannes as part of the ‘works in progress’ category.

The show will be available to acquire at Mipcom in October, with Federation holding worldwide rights excluding the first windows in France, where it will air on cultural pubcaster Arte, and Germany, where it will premiere on ZDF.

The show is made with support from the Film Fund Luxembourg, HessenFilm und Medien and the German Motion Picture Fund.
